Blue Sky Innovators Appoints John Piaggione as Chief Financial Officer to Support Continued Growth
RESTON, Va. — March 16, 2026 — Blue Sky Innovators (BSI) today announced the appointment of John Piaggione as Chief Financial Officer. Piaggione joined the company in February and is responsible for leading BSI’s financial strategy and operations as the company continues to expand its capabilities in support of defense and national security customers.
Piaggione brings extensive experience in the government contracting industry and serves on the executive leadership team at Blue Sky Innovators. With a strong background in corporate finance, strategic planning, and operational leadership, he will help guide the company’s continued growth while strengthening financial planning, forecasting, and operational alignment across the organization.

Prior to joining Blue Sky Innovators, Piaggione spent more than a decade in financial leadership roles within the government contracting sector, supporting growth initiatives and leading finance organizations across multiple companies. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and a Master of Science in Accounting & Finance from the University at Buffalo.
As CFO, Piaggione will focus on strengthening BSI’s financial operations to support the company’s continued expansion, including scaling financial processes to support a growing portfolio of services, facilities, and product lines. He will also lead efforts to enhance financial planning and forecasting capabilities and promote greater alignment across the organization as BSI continues to grow.
